African Python

African pythons, like all pythons, aren’t poisonous. With that knowledge in mind, I laid flat on my stomach face-to-face with this baby python while on safari in Zimbabwe.

Our local Trackers had a healthy fear of snakes and thought I was crazy. They kept telling me, “You shouldn’t get so close to snake. They dangerous!” Their fear is well deserved because Zimbabwe is home to four extremely deadly snakes. The most feared is the black mamba, which averages 8′ long, is extremely aggressive, and can “outrun” a human. Without antivenom treatment, the death rate is 100%.

Even though I am not a fan of snakes, this is great photography!
