The California Condor is strange, ugly bird. They are massive creatures with wingspans that can be longer than any man’s height, making them North America’s largest birds. Despite their oddities, they are graceful in flight and they seem at home amongst the massive Grand Canyon. In the Grand Canyon the Condor population is monitored closely and all are tagged with locators so that scientists can collect important location data. We found this one, along with the rest of its flock, near the top of the Bright Angel Trail.
