So often we look up at birds in flight. I think the real beauty is found when you get up high enough that they fly around below you. Mt. Cutler Trail, located in the North Cheyenne Canon Park of Colorado Springs, is a great hike. It ends on a 1,500-foot cliff on the edge of the Rocky Mountain’s Front Range. From here, you get a great view of Colorado Springs. That is where I found this gorgeous hawk. I topped the ridge at the end of the trail and this guy was just hovering there in the updraft. Luckily, I had my 300mm lens on and was able to snap off several images before he had had enough and flew out of range. I have no idea what kind of hawk he is so if you know, please let me know.
