This is perhaps the most photographed waterfall in all of New Zealand, and for good reason. At 495′ high, Stirling Falls is nearly three times as high as Niagara Falls (167′). Stirling Falls is only one of two permanent waterfalls in New Zealand’s Milford Sound. However, every time it rains, which is about every two out of three days, the two massive falls are joined by hundreds of others. Some of the temporary falls plummet from even higher than this giant. If you like waterfalls than put the Milford Sound on your must-do list and hope for a clear moment after a torrential downpour to see the walls of this mountainous landscape fill with hundreds of waterfalls.
