This small section of road in the Hunan Province of China has 99 bends in it. But don’t worry, it isn’t open to typical car traffic. You can only traverse this road on a Tianmen Mountain National Park bus. To even reach the bus, one must first ride the world’s longest cable car. It is from this vantage point that I was able to capture the photo. The road leads to Heaven’s Door, a massive hole through the side of the Tianmen Mountain.
If you get car sick easily you will probably want to skip the bus ride as the drivers don’t hold back. If you decide to visit Heaven’s Door you will still have 1,000 steep steps to climb after you exit the nauseating bus ride. All things considered I thought it a great experience and the views are spectacular even on an overcast day.
