This is the famous Trevi Fountain found in the heart of Rome. An ancient source of water for the Romans, this fountain’s current facade was finished in 1762. That is old for sure, but the water has been flowing in the location for over two millennia, making it the oldest water source in the eternal city. The ancient Roman’s built the Aqua Virgo in 19 BC to deliver water to this location where three major roads intersected. That is where the fountain gets its name Trevi (tre vie) meaning three streets.
Today we marvel at the beauty of such a gorgeously crafted fountain, but the Romans relied on this place to sustain their existence. I love visiting places that can pull us back in time and reunite us with our past.
