A few years back I spent a month in Zimbabwe. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to traverse the country seeing all the immense beauty that there is in the African wildlife and landscapes. The thing that blew me away the most was seeing its people going about their daily lives, full of hardship and manual labor, and yet, these people had a joy in their lives that Americans rarely do. I would add that while I never saw crocodiles in this particular stream, we did see several huge crocs nearby. For me it was an eye-opening revelation to realize we live in the same world and yet lead very different lives. I try to remember these peoples joy in spite of what I would have thought was unbearable working conditions anytime I think my life has become too difficult.
